CARE – Fighting Global Poverty and World Hunger

We are
an international humanitarian organization. We work around the globe to save
lives, defeat poverty, and achieve social justice. We put women and girls in
the center because we know that we cannot overcome poverty until all people
have equal rights and opportunities.

HUNGER AND POVERTY

One person in every ten will go to bed hungry tonight.

Six children die from hunger every minute.

CARE works around the globe to provide food aid and water
access. Our teams also work to build resilience amongst communities so they can
survive the ever-increasing impacts of climate change on agriculture and food
insecurity.

But food needs only keep growing as conflicts and climate
change make food insecurity even worse. We are now facing a dramatic record
of 274 million people needing
life-saving aid around the world.

Support us to help fight food insecurity and poverty in countries in crisis.

WOMEN AND GIRLS

We cannot eradicate poverty and achieve social justice while
inequality persists.

Everyday and everywhere, women are the most exposed to
discrimination and poverty. One in every three women suffers from violence
throughout her life.

Forced marriage, inequalities, school deprivation…, discrimination against
women lock them into poverty and has impacts on economic performance, food
security, health and more.

That is why CARE fights for women and girls’ rights and for gender equality.
In
more than 100 countries, our teams work to:

  • Empower women to start their own businesses and gain
    independence
  • Send girls and young women to school
  • Bring an end to violence against women

Together we can give girls, women and families the hope and
opportunity they deserve.

CLIMATE CHANGE

Natural disasters, droughts and floods are increasing, all
over the world.
And their consequences get even more severe every time.

Climate change affects all regions of the world, but the
most vulnerable communities are the hardest hit, though they are often the
least responsible.

Our teams already work around the globe to help communities
adapt to climate change – anticipating risks and building resilience – and to
provide emergency assistance during natural disasters.

The emergency is now. It affects all of us. And it will get
even worse if we do nothing. We have the power to act right now!

EMERGENCIES

Conflicts, natural disaters, food crises, pandemics…,
humanitarian crises keep increasing on and getting more and more intense.

Can you imagine losing everything overnight and having to
flee with your family? Can you imagine struggling to find shelter, to get
enough to eat?

As needs keep growing, CARE strives to work wherever there
is a major crisis. We are one of the few NGOs to act:

  • Before emergencies, to prepare populations to risks;
  • During emergencies to provide vital aid;
  • And after, to help rebuild infrastructure and vital services

In 2022, 1 person in every 29 will need emergency
humanitarian aid in the world.
